To support in the responsibility of managing and overseeing the daily operations for the Engineering Department, by supporting the Head of Engineering in ensuring effectiveness of plant machinery, maintenance, and utilities. To be responsible for both preventative and reactive maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • To take a full and active role in the overall management and operation of the Engineering Department.
  • To take an active role in managing Health & Safety within the department and site.
  • To assist with the creation, planning and organisation and implementation of all planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • To review systems for monitoring of all plant and machinery and be pro-active in seeking remedies to minimise any down time which may affect the operation of the production facility.
  • To review, monitor and maintain safe systems of work for the engineering team.
  • Assist with the managing of storage and ordering of spare parts and other essential equipment.
  • Responsibility for all spare part inventory/storage and reporting discrepancies.
  • Responsibility for ensuring requirements of PPM/Cleaning schedule are achieved through the supervision of the Shift Engineers/Engineering Assistant
  • Liaise with the Production team to ensure any required maintenance or emergency repairs minimise disruption whilst ensuring work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Deal with day-to-day housekeeping issues across the business covering electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Be involved and available in a call out rota to support the engineering department with any out of hour issues
  • To assist with the training of engineering staff.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within a similar role is essential, in both Engineering and Leadership aspects.
  • Experience with creating and implementing preventative maintenance activities
  • Ability to monitor systems and implement improvements for increasing operational efficiency.
  • Ability to find successful solutions to reactive maintenance issues.

Hours, Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive salary offering (DOE)
  • Monday to Friday, 1 weekend in every 3
  • Week 1 and Week 2 – Day Shift
  • Week 3 – Late Shift (rotates as per above)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Start time varies from 5:00am to 7:00am depending on business needs.
